To discuss a personal example, a couple of years ago, I chose to quit eating unhealthy foods. There was only one problem. I set myself up for failure. All I did was thinking about chocolate while I had plenty of honesty and discipline and I ended up feeling like a loser once I ate some chocolate and caved.
